The practice and profession of investor relations is changing. As the steward of the IR profession, NIRI takes a leadership role in identifying the scope and implications of change. NIRI also proactively recommends how practitioners and those who serve the profession – including NIRI – plan for and adapt to change.
The NIRI Board of Directors has charged the members of NIRI’s topic-specific Think Tanks with creating thought leadership that will better enable NIRI, IR practitioners and IR stakeholders to plan for and respond to change. This Think Tank process generates ideas for content, programs, services and products that help NIRI to better serve the IR community. The resulting recommendations and other direction-setting advice are of value to IR stakeholders for years to come.
Corporate Purpose
The report of the NIRI Think Tank on Corporate Purpose is the product of a group of thought-leaders convened to study corporate purpose, stakeholder capitalism and related topics and their impact on the investor relations profession including investor relations practitioners, those who serve the investor relations community and those who are served by the investor relations community.
Artificial Intelligence in Investor Relations
NIRI released its first examination of the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation technologies on the investor relations (IR) profession. A product of IR community thought leaders, this report represents NIRI’s second formal Think Tank study, exploring forces that drive societal and professional transformation so that NIRI and its stakeholders can anticipate and prepare. It ultimately represents a clear call to action to develop the capabilities required to work effectively in a world with greatly increased automation.
The Disruption Opportunity
One hallmark of great professional associations is their work to collaboratively envision and proactively help shape the future of their professions. As part of NIRI’s 50th anniversary celebration, The Think Tank on the Future of Investor Relations was conceived by the NIRI Board of Directors as a future-focused analysis of the investor relations profession. This report identifies the primary forces driving change, as well as potential developmental pathways to ensure continued relevance and professional success.
