Legislative and Advocacy Fly-in

Each September, NIRI holds a Legislative and Advocacy Fly-In in Washington, DC. NIRI convenes members to meet with senior Securities and Exchange Commission staff to raise IR professionals’ regulatory concerns and to hear the staff’s views on key IR issues. Attendees also meet with U.S. House and Senate members and staff so they can share their views on critical regulatory issues for public companies.

The Fly-In program includes:

  • Exclusive briefing sessions on key activities in Congress impacting the industry, new regulations, and implementation plans, and NIRI’s legislative priorities
  • Interactive training on advocacy, communicating your “ask”, and building relationships with your elected leaders
  • Meetings with Members of Congress or their staff and representatives of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance
  • Networking with your NIRI peers from across the country
  • Tips on continuing valuable relationships with elected officials once you return home
People on Capitol Hill

Who should attend?

This program has limited-capacity and is open to NIRI IR practitioner members (corporate and counselors) who are interested in advocating for the profession, strengthening leadership skills, and influencing how policy is crafted on Capitol Hill.

I had a great time on the Hill with members of NIRI, advocating for the modernization of legislation that impacts our day-to-day work as investor relations professionals. It was such a great learning experience on the legislative process and how we can influence change!
