Brad Wilks is Chicago CEO and managing director of Sard Verbinnen & Co. His primary career emphasis has been in serving as counsel to senior executives at corporations responding to unforeseen issues or significant changes such as proxy contests, litigation and crisis communications, product recalls, senior executive changes, etc. Recent engagements include advising Applebee's International in its proxy defense against Breeden Capital, and Tribune Company in its leveraged ESOP transaction with Sam Zell.
Prior to joining Sard Verbinnen, Wilks was managing director and head of the Chicago office of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. Prior to Ogilvy, Wilks was senior vice president and partner of Fleishman-Hillard, where he headed the firm's financial communications and technology practices in Chicago.
Before Fleishman-Hillard, Wilks was head of investor relations for Ball Corporation, where he was cited by Institutional Investor Magazine as one of America's best IR officers, according to a poll of security analysts and institutional investors. He began his career in public relations in New York as a senior associate with Adams and Rinehart.
Wilks has a B.A. degree from Indiana University and an M.A. degree from Ball State University, where he was the John W. Hill Fellow.
