NIRI Announces 2009-2010 Annual Chapter / Leadership Award Winners


San Diego, CA – The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) today announced its annual Chapter Awards and Chapter Leadership Awards winners, awarding Best Overall Small Chapter to Atlanta, and Best Overall Large Chapter to Silicon Valley.

NIRI Chairman Brad Wilks, Chicago CEO and managing director Sard Verbinnen & Co. said, “On behalf of the leadership and staff of NIRI, I want to acknowledge the significant accomplishments of today’s award winners. It is through the selfless dedication to professional development by NIRI members at the local level throughout the country that NIRI chapters continue to advance the profession of investor relations. A key benefit of NIRI membership, chapters provide excellent nationwide professional networking and education opportunities, as well as serve as a training platform for future NIRI leaders. Today we congratulate those who have contributed so much to their chosen profession.”

The awards were presented at the Chapter / Leadership Awards dinner in San Diego, California, site of the 2010 NIRI Annual Conference, the largest and most comprehensive investor relations professional event in the world.

The 2009-2010 NIRI Chapter Award winners are:

2009-2010 Individual Chapter Leadership Awards were presented to the following NIRI members: Jessica Case, Arizona; Beverly Verrico, Atlanta; Shep Dunlap, Austin/San Antonio; Karen Warren, Boston; Miranda Weeks, Capital Area; Steven Carr, Chicago; Heather Wietzel, Cincinnati Tri States; Tracie Vicki, Connecticut/Westchester; Kristi Cooper, Dallas; Lee Ahlstrom, Houston; Dick Johnson, Kansas City; Jorge Casado, Los Angeles; Felise Glantz Kissell, New York; David Erickson, Orange County; Terri Williams Perry, Philadelphia; Brenda Bell, Rocky Mountain; Jane Booth, San Diego; Leah Grant, Seattle; Brenda Ropoulos, Silicon Valley; Jenny Kobin, Triangle; Chris Kettmann, Virtual.

Mark Donohue, senior director, Investor Relations & Corporate Communications, Impax Laboratories, Inc. and president of the NIRI Philadelphia chapter was also honored with the University of Michigan Scholarship Award. Mr. Donohue was selected to receive this award based on an essay competition, and will receive a scholarship to attend the University of Michigan’s “Theory and Practice of Investor Relations” executive education program.

Mickey Foster, vice president, Investor Relations of FedEx Corporation, received the NIRI National Volunteer of the Year Award. This award, introduced in 2009, honors a NIRI member who best exemplifies the NIRI mission of “advancing the practice of investor relations and professional competency and stature NIRI members” at the national level. Mr. Foster is a past chairman of NIRI and is a founding and current member of NIRI’s Senior Roundtable.
